The Glenfiddich 40 Years Old Time Series No. 18 is an exceptionally long-matured single malt Scotch whisky from Speyside, and is one of the Glenfiddich Distillery’s most exclusive bottlings. A distinctive feature of its production is the ‘Remnant Vatting’ process employed by Glenfiddich. In this method, the Malt Master sets aside a portion of the previous 40-year-old blend and combines it with the selected casks from the next release. This creates a continuous link between the individual releases, whilst each edition simultaneously develops its own character. The 40-year maturation period imparts exceptional depth and complexity, which Glenfiddich compares to the rock strata of a landscape formed over millennia.


The Time Series No. 18 continues this rare concept and is bottled at 44.6 per cent ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle. Glenfiddich was founded in 1887 by William Grant in Dufftown and remains part of the family-owned company William Grant & Sons to this day. Tasting Note

Colour: Dark mahogany with deep, warm highlights.

Nose: Complex and intense, with dried fruit, dark chocolate, roasted coffee and ripe black cherries, complemented by gentle wood smoke, polished leather and cloves.

Palate: Full-bodied, luxurious and silky smooth, with dried fruit, rich fruit cake, dates, raisins and stewed apples, followed by dry oak, dark chocolate and subtle peaty notes.

Finish: Exceptionally long-lasting, complex and multi-layered, with lingering oak spice, dark fruit and subtle smoky notes.

The Glenfiddich 40 Years Old Time Series No. 18 is best enjoyed neat at around 18–20 °C in a high-quality nosing glass. Due to its great age and complex ‘remnant vatting’ character, it should initially be tasted without ice or any other ingredients. High-quality dark chocolate, dates, roasted walnuts or a fine matured hard cheese make for subtle culinary accompaniments, without overpowering the whisky’s flavour.
