The Polz Zweigelt Styria 2018 13 % is a classic Austrian red wine from Styria, made exclusively from the indigenous Zweigelt grape variety. The long-established Polz winery is renowned for its meticulous craftsmanship and terroir-focused winemaking. The 2018 Zweigelt is aged in large, used wooden barrels, allowing the wine to develop harmoniously without any dominant oak aromas overpowering its varietal character. This vintage is dry and combines a fruit-driven style with spice, structure and a pleasant drinkability. It is sealed with a practical screw cap.

In the 0.75 l bottle, the Polz Zweigelt 2018 presents itself as a versatile Styrian red wine, ideal both on its own and as an accompaniment to food. The combination of Zweigelt, Styria and traditional ageing in large wooden casks results in a distinctive style with a gentle tannin structure and a well-balanced body. The wine is said to have remarkable ageing potential; the winery itself states that it will be ready to drink in at least ten years’ time. Tasting Note

In the glass, the Polz Zweigelt Steiermark 2018 displays a clear purplish-red colour. On the nose, aromas of red berries, juicy sour cherries and ripe cherries unfold, complemented by a subtle hint of raspberry. On the palate, the Zweigelt is spicy and slightly earthy, with juicy fruit and a harmonious structure. The finish is distinctly fruity, juicy and pleasantly lingering.

Serving temperature: 14–16 °C

The Polz Zweigelt 2018 is at its best when served at a temperature of 14–16 °C. It pairs particularly well with pork, poultry and grilled vegetables, making it an excellent red wine for barbecued dishes. This Styrian Zweigelt also provides a well-balanced accompaniment to a Styrian snack, pasta with a rich meat sauce or boiled beef.
