Ming River Sichuan Baijiu Grain Spirit is an authentic Chinese baijiu, produced at the historic Luzhou Laojiao distillery, which has been renowned for its unique craftsmanship for over 400 years. With an alcohol content of 45% vol. and bottled in a 0.7-litre bottle, this grain spirit embodies China’s rich culture and history and is considered the ideal introduction to the world of baijiu.


It is produced from sorghum, an ancient grain that is fermented in traditional stone pits. This labour-intensive process, combined with natural fermentation and a special yeast culture, gives the baijiu its distinctive aroma. After distillation, the result is a robust, multi-layered grain spirit that perfectly reflects the characteristic ‘Strong Aroma’ style of the Sichuan region.

Nose: Expressive, with notes of exotic fruit (pineapple, lychee), floral nuances, fermented fruit and a hint of yoghurt.

Palate: Complex, fruity and spicy with sweet-and-sour notes, hints of tropical fruit, umami, white flowers and a slightly earthy depth.

Ming River Baijiu is traditionally enjoyed neat at room temperature in small glasses – often on festive occasions or as an accompaniment to sumptuous Chinese dishes such as Sichuan cuisine, dim sum or grilled pork belly.
