Description
Description
The Poli distillery was founded in 1898 by GioBatto Poli and is now run by the four siblings Jacopo, Geampaolo, Barbara and Andrea Poli. It is situated in the north-eastern Italian municipality of Schiavon, in the province of Veneto.
Poli is renowned for its unique grappas, but on 15 October 2013 decided to produce its first whisky in honour of the people of Veneto. This exceptional whisky is made from pure barley malt and distilled by hand using an Atanor still. The water used in the production of the whisky is of exceptional purity and quality. It comes from Monte Grappa, which has been designated a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. The Italian malt is matured for five years in oak casks, after which it is finished for one year in Amarone casks.
The name ‘Segretario di Stato’ and the image of St Peter’s Square on the whisky’s label have been duly authorised by the Secretariat of State of the Holy See.
Limited to 1,898 bottles worldwide.
