The Sailor’s Home Distillery pays homage to the restless, the explorers and the adventurers. Sailor’s Home was built in 1856 near the mouth of the River Shannon and the Atlantic Ocean.
Sailor’s Home’s Island Series reflects the quest for whisky experiences. Exceptional whiskies with unique flavours, matured in rum casks from the Caribbean islands, are used in the production.
THE HORIZON expression is crafted from a blend of 10-year-old Irish grain and Irish single malt whiskies. These are each matured for 10 years in ex-bourbon oak casks, followed by finishing in selected Barbados rum casks, which imparts rich and refined flavours. These are typical of Caribbean rums.
Tasting Note
Colour: Ochre.
Nose: Fruity, tropical, with hints of brown sugar.
Palate: Full-bodied, sweet, fruity, honey, vanilla, hints of caramelised banana and oak.
Finish: Long-lasting, butterscotch, orange peel.
