The Le Volte dell’Ornellaia Toscana IGT 2021 is a charismatic, full-bodied red wine from Tuscany that bears the hallmark of the famous Ornellaia estate in a modern, approachable style. As a so-called ‘second wine’, it reflects the estate’s high standards of quality and philosophy – a true Super Tuscan that combines power, fruit and finesse.

In the 2021 vintage, Le Volte is particularly concentrated, juicy and well-structured. The blend consists of 51 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 44 % Merlot and 5 % Petit Verdot – a composition that harmoniously combines depth, elegance and ripe fruit aromas. After each grape variety has been fermented separately, the wine is blended into a final cuvée and aged in stainless steel tanks and used barriques to perfectly balance complexity and drinkability. With an alcohol content of 14 % vol., a natural cork closure and a ageing potential until at least 2031, this red wine impresses with its versatility, depth and great class.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Le Volte 2021 displays a deep ruby red colour with violet hues. The nose reveals an intense interplay of aromas, including ripe dark cherries, blackcurrants, plums and a hint of Mediterranean herbs. Subtle notes of tobacco, cedarwood and spicy Graphit complement the complex bouquet. On the palate, it is powerful, structured yet supple, with ripe, fine-grained tannins, harmonious acidity and a long, fruit-driven finish that ends with a subtle minerality.

This vintage is an ideal accompaniment to pasta with game ragout, braised lamb, grilled beef, entrecôte, as well as mature Pecorino, antipasti or a hearty lasagne al forno. Even when enjoyed on its own, served at 16–18 °C in a large red wine glass, it reveals its full elegance.
