The Kavalan SOLIST Brandy Cask is a limited-edition Taiwanese single malt whisky from the renowned Kavalan Distillery in Yilan. Selected first-fill brandy casks are used for this special bottling from the sought-after Kavalan Solist range, whose intense cask character blends with the characteristic Kavalan distillate. Taiwan’s subtropical climate promotes a particularly intense interaction between the whisky and the cask, thereby playing a key role in the maturation process. As a single cask whisky, each bottling comes from a single cask and consequently possesses its own unique character. With a robust 55.6% ABV in the 0.7-litre bottle, complete with a gift box, this limited edition is aimed particularly at connoisseurs of expressive and cask-driven single malts.


The Kavalan Solist Brandy Cask is bottled at cask strength and is not altered by either chill filtration or artificial colouring. It is therefore unchill-filtered and contains no added colourings. This presentation of the whisky, kept as close to its natural state as possible, is one of the key features of the Solist range. Particularly unusual is the full maturation in first-fill brandy casks, which offers a distinctive alternative to the better-known sherry and bourbon cask maturations. Tasting Note

Colour: Dark amber.

Nose: Intense and fruity, with notes of peach, passion fruit and mango, accompanied by vanilla, toffee, subtle spices and a hint of honey.

Palate: Round, smooth and full-bodied with ripe tropical fruit, vanilla and toffee, complemented by spicy cask notes and the intense structure of cask-strength whisky.

Finish: Long-lasting and complex with subtle lychee, ripe fruit and delicately spiced brandy cask notes.

Due to its 55.6% ABV cask strength, the Kavalan SOLIST Brandy Cask is best enjoyed neat at room temperature in a nosing glass. A few drops of still water can reduce the high alcohol content and bring out further fruity and cask nuances. It pairs well with mature hard cheeses, roasted almonds or walnuts, as well as dark chocolate and desserts featuring peach, mango or caramel. As a limited-edition single cask whisky from Taiwan, this bottling is also particularly well-suited to discerning whisky tastings and collections.
