Founded in Campbeltown in 1828, the Springbank Distillery is one of Scotland’s most historic distilleries and is renowned for its artisanal approach. This heavily peated single malt was first distilled at the distillery in 1973 as part of an experiment designed to demonstrate that an Islay-style single malt could also be produced on the Scottish mainland.

To achieve this, the barley is dried exclusively over peat fires, which gives the whisky its characteristic, intense smoky flavour. The whisky is produced using a double distillation process, which promotes the development of particularly rich aromas. It is then matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, which lends it additional depth and complexity. The production of this heavily peated single malt demonstrates Springbank’s dedication to tradition and its spirit of experimentation in equal measure.

Nose: Creamy, vanilla custard, smoke, open fire.

Palate: Rich, creamy, light, smoky, medicinal.
