For centuries, the Caribbean was a sought-after destination for European exploration and trade. Many ships returning to Europe carried Caribbean rum with them. During these long sea voyages to Europe, it was observed that the rum changed and developed over time – and often even improved – by the time it reached the cooler climates of Europe. A fascinating experiment began, in which premium Caribbean rum was matured in casks using the craftsmanship of Scottish whisky producers and Scotland’s ideal ageing conditions. Named after the precious stone ‘Larimar’, which is found exclusively in the enchanting Dominican Republic and whose colours resemble the sunlight glistening beneath the Caribbean Sea, the rum was created as Ron Larimar.

Ron Larimar Small Batch Rum is matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, which give it a sweeter profile, and it also acquires its finish in these casks. This five-year-old rum reveals aromas of sweet figs and raisins.

Tasting Note

Colour: Brilliant amber.

Nose: Rich, dried fruit, pineapple, toffee, cocoa.

Palate: Sweet, caramel, raisins, spices.

Finish: Long-lasting.
