Evan Williams, after whom the second-best-selling bourbon (after Jim Beam) is named, was originally from Wales. He came to Virginia and settled in what is now Kentucky around 1780, where he founded a small distillery on the River Ohio. According to a newspaper report in the Louisville Courier-Journal dated 29 April 1889, Williams was a member of the Louisville town meeting, and, as tradition has it, he never attended a meeting without a bottle of whisky. Today, the two master distillers, Parker and Craig Beam, oversee the entire distillation and production process. As their family has been involved in bourbon production for generations, knowledge and craftsmanship – including a secret family recipe for the yeast strain – have been passed down through the generations.

The award-winning Evan Williams BOTTLED-IN-BOND bourbon is made from 78 per cent maize, 12 per cent malted barley and 10 per cent rye. It pays tribute to Evan Williams, helping to keep the history of American whisky alive. This bottling is one of the few Bottled-In-Bond bourbons still available and shares the heritage of Evan Williams Black Label, the second-largest brand of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky, not only in the USA but worldwide. This bourbon whisky is aged for longer than required by law. The designation ‘BOTTLED-IN-BOND’ applies to whiskies that are bottled at 100 proof, have been aged for a minimum of four years and are produced by a single distillery.
