The Elsburn WAYFARE The Cask Strength Batch No. 003 (2023) is an exclusive small-batch release from the renowned Elsburn Distillery (formerly The Glen Els) in Germany. Due to high demand, this special bottling was removed from the core range, but now the Wayfare is returning in a limited edition. With a potent alcohol content of 58.2% ABV and a limited run of 3,840 bottles worldwide, this whisky is a coveted collector’s item for connoisseurs.

The Wayfare is a masterfully blended blend of whiskies aged between 4 and 11 years. Maturation takes place 50 per cent in sherry hogsheads, which impart fruity and spicy notes, and 50 per cent in a combination of port, Marsala, Málaga and Grand Cru Claret hogsheads, which lend the whisky impressive depth and sweet complexity.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep mahogany with reddish highlights.

Nose: Intense aromas of dark berries, ripe dried fruit, spicy oak and a subtle hint of chocolate.

Palate: Full-bodied and complex, with notes of raisins, dark chocolate, caramel, red fruits and a hint of nuts and spices.

Finish: Long-lasting, powerful and warm, with a blend of fruity sweetness, spicy oak and a hint of winey notes.

The Elsburn WAYFARE Cask Strength reveals its full potential when enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to further open up the aromas. It pairs superbly with dark chocolate, mature cheese or roasted nuts. Alternatively, it is ideal for sophisticated whisky cocktails such as a Rob Roy or a Sherry Cask Old Fashioned, to stylishly highlight its complex cask notes.
