The Lochlea Distillery is an independent single malt distillery based at Lochlea Farm in Ayrshire, near Glasgow in the Lowlands. The old farm has been converted into a distillery with a bonded warehouse. The distillery commenced operations in August 2018.

John Campbell, the former manager of the Laphroaig Distillery, runs the family-owned business. The Scottish poet Robert Burns lived on and managed the farm from 1777 to 1784.

The barley used in production is grown and harvested on site. The water is drawn from limestone springs deep beneath the distillery. This ensures complete traceability from field to bottle.

Lochlea Harvest Edition (First Crop) is the first release in the Harvest Edition range. For this exceptional edition, the whisky was matured in a carefully selected combination of Port hogsheads, Oloroso sherry butts and first-fill bourbon casks. With an alcohol content of 46 per cent by volume, the Lochlea Harvest Edition First Crop offers a pleasant strength that brings out its aromas and nuances to the full. No colouring agents or chill filtration have been used, to ensure that the whisky is bottled in its purest form.

Tasting Note

Colour: Copper.

Nose: Fruity notes of ripe pears and bananas, apple compote and oatmeal biscuits.

Palate: Fresh strawberries, hints of violets, toasted marshmallows.

Finish: Long-lasting, sweet, with warm undertones.
