Samurai Junmai Daiginjo Sake is an excellent, artisanally produced sake from Japan that reflects the fine art of sake production. Junmai Daiginjo is a premium grade of sake made from highly polished rice grains. A large portion of the outer layer of the rice grain is removed to expose the starchy core, resulting in a particularly pure and delicate flavour. The term ‘Junmai’ means that this sake is produced exclusively from rice, water, yeast and koji – a special mould that converts rice starch into fermentable sugar – without any additives whatsoever. The term ‘Daiginjo’ refers to the high degree of polishing of the rice, whereby at least 50 per cent of the outer layer is removed to produce a particularly pure and complex sake.

Samurai Junmaidaiginjo Sake is bottled with an alcohol content of 16% vol. and offers a refined tasting experience, enhanced by the meticulous production process and the high-quality rice. This speciality sake is ideal for enjoying on its own or as an accompaniment to fine Japanese cuisine.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Samurai Junmaidaiginjo Sake appears as a clear, gleaming white with a delicate sheen. On the nose, floral aromas unfold, accompanied by fresh notes of pear, peach and a hint of honey. On the palate, the sake is smooth and elegant, with a lovely balance of gentle sweetness and subtle acidity that harmonise perfectly. The finish is long and harmonious, with a subtle umami aftertaste that rounds off the flavours.

Samurai Junmaidaiginjo Sake is ideal with fine Japanese dishes such as sushi, sashimi and grilled fish. This sake is also an excellent accompaniment to tempura or teriyaki chicken. Furthermore, it pairs perfectly with mild cheeses or fruity desserts such as sorbet and light fruit tarts.
