Matthew Gloag, the founder's grandson of the same name, took over the family business 96 years after it was founded in 1800.

A year later, he created a new blend, which he called "The Grouse Brand" (grouse) in the expectation that many hunters would stop off in Perth during the hunting season.

His daughter designed the matching label with the Scottish national bird.

The whisky immediately sold so well that the name "The Famous" was added within just a few years and the name "Brand" was simply dropped. And so the popular whisky is still called The Famous Grouse today.

The Famous Grous RUBY CASK whisky is part of The Famous Grouse's Cask Series. Different types of casks are used to create smooth blends with a unique character.

This whisky is aged in barrels flavoured with port wine and develops a rich sweetness.

Tasting Note

Colour: Amber.

Nose: Elegant, fresh, notes of vanilla, cinnamon, fruit cake.

Flavour: Balanced, notes of fruit cake, cloves, cinnamon.

Finish: Langs on the palate.
