Every year since 2001, a limited-edition collection of exquisitely crafted Scotch whisky original bottlings at their natural cask strength has seen the light of day – Diageo’s SPECIAL RELEASES.

With the latest instalment of the Special Releases, ‘Spirited Xchange’, we are delighted to celebrate the newest bottlings in this special series, which is inspired by cultural influences from various countries and brings leading brands to life through unique partnerships with different cultures.

This remarkable Lagavulin The Ink of Legends Single Malt has been matured for 12 years. Throughout its maturation, it was stored exclusively in Don Julio Añejo tequila casks. This unique choice of casks has lent the whisky a very special flavour dimension, as it has absorbed the subtle yet complex nuances of the tequila. The distillery has chosen to leave this limited edition in its natural state and bottle it at natural cask strength of 56.4 per cent by volume.

Tasting Note

Colour: Gold.

Nose: Smoky, herbal notes, aromas of barbecued meat.

Palate: Full-bodied, velvety-smooth, citrus notes, juicy plums, Islay smoke.

Finish: Long-lasting, dry, slightly salty, smoky notes.
