Description
Description
Ungava Gin takes its name from the Ungava Peninsula, which is part of the province of Quebec. The word ‘Ungava’ originates from ancient Inuit culture and means ‘towards the open water’. The botanicals (including juniper, crowberries and bog bilberry) used in Ungava Canadian Premium Gin also come from the Arctic region. But the reason this gin came to Canada is as follows: trappers and gold diggers in Canada have been drinking this gin for a long time, as they believe it has medicinal properties.
Some of the traditional production methods for Ungava Gin have been adopted from the ancient Inuit. The botanicals are first macerated in alcohol and, after distillation, further botanicals are added.
