The Barceló Imperial Rare Blends Porto Cask is a special bottling from the Dominican Republic that combines the matured style of Barceló Imperial with additional ageing in port casks. This edition forms part of Barceló’s Rare Blends Collection, in which selected matured distillates are given their own distinctive character through the use of different types of cask. It is based on the brand’s characteristic Dominican rum style, whose maturation under tropical conditions allows for an intense interaction between the distillate and the wood. For the Porto Cask Edition, a targeted secondary ageing takes place in casks that previously contained port wine. This additional contact with the casks enhances the mature character with a pronounced fruity note and lends the bottling extra depth and complexity.
