From 2024, Maison Ferrand’s Plantation brand will be renamed Planteray. This decision reflects the company’s commitment to demonstrating sensitivity and respect for historical contexts, particularly with regard to issues such as racial equality, equality and diversity.

The name change aims to give the brand a more modern and cosmopolitan image. “Planteray” combines “Plant” for sugar cane and “Ray” for the sun’s rays, which aid the growth of sugar cane, and is intended to create a positive association free from historical baggage. Despite the name change, the flavour and production process of the rums will remain unchanged.

Planteray Rum PANAMA is distilled from molasses at the Don José Distillery and is initially matured for several years in bourbon casks (200 l) in its country of origin. At MAISON FERRAND, it undergoes an additional finish in Ferrand casks (350 l) and is finally aged for one year in Marsala casks, which imparts unique, fruity notes.

Tasting Note

Colour: Amber.

Nose: Fruity and sweet, raspberries, honey, almonds, caramel.

Palate: Raspberries, honey, candied fruit, hints of liquorice.

Finish: Long-lasting.
