From 2024, Maison Ferrand’s Plantation brand will be renamed Planteray. This decision reflects the company’s commitment to demonstrating sensitivity and respect for historical contexts, particularly with regard to issues such as racial equality, equality and diversity.

The name change aims to give the brand a more modern and cosmopolitan image. “Planteray” combines “Plant” for sugar cane and “Ray” for the sun’s rays, which aid the growth of the sugar cane, and is intended to create a positive association free from historical baggage. Despite the name change, the flavour and production process of the rums will remain unchanged.

After 2 to 3 days of fermentation and distillation in column stills, the rum is initially aged for 3 years in bourbon casks. It is then matured for a further 3 years in Ferrand casks at MAISON FERRAND and finally undergoes a 1-year finish in rye whisky casks, which imparts spicy rye notes.

Nose: Tropical fruits, dill, aniseed.

Palate: Rich, spicy, fruit compote, pastries.

Finish: Long-lasting.
