From 2024, Maison Ferrand’s Plantation brand will be renamed Planteray. This decision reflects the company’s commitment to demonstrating sensitivity and respect for historical contexts, particularly with regard to issues such as racial equality, equality and diversity.

The name change aims to give the brand a more modern and cosmopolitan image. “Planteray” combines “Plant”, referring to sugar cane, and “Ray”, referring to the sun’s rays that help the sugar cane to grow, and is intended to create a positive association free from historical baggage. Despite the name change, the flavour and production process of the rums will remain unchanged.

The rum undergoes fermentation for 2 to 3 days before being distilled in a column still. After distillation, it is aged for 11 years in bourbon casks (200 l) in its country of origin, which gives it its basic structure. It is then given a special finish at MAISON FERRAND, which lasts for 1 year and 3 months in Ferrand casks (350 l) to develop additional flavours, before maturing for a further 9 months in Kopke port casks.

Tasting Note

Colour: Light amber.

Nose: Cherries, rum-soaked fruit, wood, almonds.

Palate: Round, with a hint of acidity, cherries, almonds.

Finish: Long-lasting.
