From 2024 onwards, Maison Ferrand’s Plantation brand will be renamed Planteray. This decision reflects the company’s commitment to demonstrating sensitivity and respect for historical contexts, particularly with regard to issues such as racial equality, equality and diversity.

The name change aims to give the brand a more modern and cosmopolitan image. “Planteray” combines “Plant” for sugar cane and “Ray” for the sun’s rays, which help the sugar cane to grow, and is intended to create a positive association free from historical baggage. Despite the name change, the flavour and production process of the rums will remain unchanged.

The rum is produced from molasses at the Rum & Co. of Fiji Distillery and fermented for 4 to 5 days. After distillation in column stills, it is aged for 4 years in bourbon casks (200 l) in its country of origin. It is then finished for 5 months in Ferrand casks (350 l) and matures for a further 7 months in coffee liqueur casks, which imparts distinctive coffee aromas.

Colour: Amber.

Nose: Coffee notes, toffee, condensed milk, apple compote.

Palate: Toffee, coffee, fruit compote.

Finish: Long-lasting.
