It is believed that Glayva whisky liqueur got its name from a particular anecdote, the truth of which, however, remains unclear: in the late 1940s, Ronald Morrison created the recipe for Glayva whisky liqueur. During a tasting session with one of his colleagues, the latter is said to have spontaneously exclaimed “very good” – “glayva” in Gaelic. This praise gave the liqueur its name right from the start.
Glayva Whisky Liqueur is based on a blend of malt whisky, spices and fruits. As well as cinnamon, almonds, cloves and ginger, the whisky is enhanced with a dash of Spanish oranges, which gives it a spicy character balanced by fruity notes.
Tasting Note
Colour: Amber.
Nose: Rich and complex, sweet, spicy, with hints of citrus and herbs.
Palate: Elegant and creamy, with a hint of honey.
Finish: Long-lasting.
