Planteray Cut & Dry Artisanal Infusion Coconut 40% vol. 0.7 l is an exceptional Caribbean spirit, produced entirely in Barbados, which combines two key elements of the island’s culture: rum and coconut. It is produced at the West Indies Rum Distillery, where molasses is used exclusively as the raw material. Following a fermentation period of 3–4 days, the rum is distilled in both pot stills and column stills. The base of this infused rum consists of a blend of aromatic pot-still rum and elegant column-still rum, to which a natural coconut infusion is later added.


Only ripe coconuts harvested in Barbados are used in the production process; these are opened by hand and naturally dried in the Caribbean sun. This traditional method concentrates the essential oils and intensifies the coconut’s characteristic flavour profile. The dried coconut pieces are then placed in a blend of Barbados rums and slowly infused. Only then is the fruit infusion blended with additional Barbados rum, creating a harmonious, multi-layered flavour profile. The lengthy development period – local coconut farmers and the distillery spent around four years experimenting together to find the ideal recipe – is reflected in the elegance and precision of the final product. As coconut farming in Barbados is still in its infancy, Planteray Cut & Dry is currently produced in limited quantities, which further emphasises its distinctive character.
