Douglas Laing has updated the name of its well-known Island Blended Malt bottling from ‘Rock Oyster’ to ‘Rock Island’, without altering the award-winning contents. Rock Island blends selected single malts from the Scottish islands of Islay, Arran, Jura and Orkney, giving it characteristic smoky notes, sweetness and maritime aromas. As part of the Remarkable Regional Malts series, Rock Island symbolises the diversity and quality of Scotland’s malt whisky regions.

To honour the essential role of wood in whisky production, and particularly to mark the Chinese Year of the Wood Dragon in 2024, Rock Island presents a special edition that has been matured in carefully selected, heavily charred ‘crocodile casks’. This process allows the Year of the Dragon Edition to absorb a variety of rich aromas from the deep charring of the wood, lending the creation an exceptional depth of flavour.

This whisky is bottled at its natural cask strength of 54.8 per cent, with no colouring agents or chill filtration added.

Tasting Note

Colour: Light gold.

Nose: Grilled pineapple, mellow peat smoke, campfire embers.

Palate: Fruity notes of grilled bananas, caramelised sugar, sea salt.

Finish: Long-lasting, coconut, brown sugar, salted caramel.
