Big Peat is a carefully curated blend of single malt Scotch whiskies sourced exclusively from the renowned whisky region of Islay. This blend brings together the distinctive characteristics of the island’s renowned distilleries: Caol Ila contributes its sweetness, Bowmore ensures perfect balance, Ardbeg lends the blend its medicinal and earthy notes, whilst Port Ellen adds an element of elegance. Together, Big Peat embodies the quintessence of Islay in a bottle.

As part of Douglas Laing’s Remarkable Regional Malts collection, Big Peat represents the essence of the Islay region in concentrated form. With a phenol content of 40 ppm, it offers an intense peaty experience. The whisky is free from colouring and chill filtration and is bottled at natural cask strength, underlining its authenticity and natural character, in keeping with Douglas Laing’s motto: ‘As natural as possible’.

Tasting Note

Colour: Pale straw-gold.

Nose: Fresh, salty, clean, sweet malt dried over peat.

Palate: Ash, sweet tar, salty sea breezes, smoking chimneys.

Finish: Long-lasting, salty and spicy liquorice, smoke, ash from campfires.
