The Demerara Rum Distillery, situated in Guyana, South America, is one of the country’s few remaining rum distilleries and offers an impressive range of matured rums. Its location on the picturesque banks of the Demerara River not only gives it its name but also provides an idyllic setting. The distillery is distinguished by its use of nine different stills, which give El Dorado rums a diverse flavour profile.

With its internationally recognised awards, the Demerara Distillery is regarded as one of the most successful rum distilleries in the world. Its product range extends from white rum to an exquisite 25-year-old rum, offering a superb selection of high-quality rums that should not be missing from any well-stocked bar.

The 25-year-old El Dorado, created especially to mark the turn of the millennium, is characterised by a silky smoothness that can rival even the oldest and finest cognacs. The unique warmth and tropical conditions in Demerara greatly enhance the ageing process, which takes place in American oak casks over a period of at least 25 years.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark amber with a reddish-golden sheen.

Nose: Harmonious, with notes of honey, caramel and dried fruit.

Palate: Smooth, intense, complex, with notes of orange, chocolate, coffee and dark toffee, and a hint of light tobacco.

Finish: Long-lasting, chocolatey, toffee.
