With the Ardbeg Spectacular, the iconic Islay distillery presents an exciting and extraordinary novelty that will delight whisky fans worldwide. This limited edition was released exclusively for Ardbeg Day - the annual celebration day for all Ardbeggians - and marks a real first in the history of the distillery: for the first time, an Ardbeg has been matured in rare port casks. In combination with classic ex-bourbon casks, this creates a multi-layered flavour profile that reveals both traditional Ardbeg characteristics and new depths of flavour.

The idea for this bottling came from Gillian Macdonald, Master Blender at Ardbeg. With "Spectacular", she wanted to create an aromatic firework that combines the typical smoky and maritime notes of the distillery with the fruity, spicy and dark facets of port maturation. The composition of dark chocolate, candied fruit, mint, smoked pecan nuts and smoked candle smoke unfolds in a sensory performance that lives up to its name.

With an alcohol content of 46% vol., non-chill-filtered and natural, the Ardbeg Spectacular is a real highlight for collectors and connoisseurs, once again demonstrating the innovative strength and creativity of the distillery.

Tasting Note

Colour: Rich copper red with a purple sheen.

Nose: Expressive and playful with fruity depth, black cherries, menthol, wafts of smoke, rosewood and a hint of glazed pecans.

Flavour: Multi-layered and intense with dark chocolate, port wine sweetness, cinnamon spice, dried berries, minty freshness and classic Ardbeg peat smoke.

Finish: Langs and complex with a smoky aftertaste, smoky candles, sweet grapes and elegant spice.

The Ardbeg Spectacular is an ideal dram for pure enjoyment - best served at room temperature. A few drops of water intensify the sweet, fruity and floral port notes and allow the smoke profile to emerge even more finely.
