The Glen Scotia 7 Years Old 1st Fill PX Hogshead Cask by delicando 2016 is an exclusive single cask bottling from Campbeltown, specially selected as a ‘Cask by delicando’. The single malt was distilled in 2016 and matured for 7 years in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez hogshead. As this is the first time the cask has been filled with Scotch whisky, the influence of the Pedro Ximénez sherry it previously contained comes through particularly clearly. The distillate was produced by the historic Glen Scotia Distillery, which has been based in Campbeltown since 1832 and is one of the few remaining active distilleries in this historic Scottish whisky region. The combination of Campbeltown character and intense PX cask influence gives this bottling a distinctive profile.

The Glen Scotia Cask by delicando is bottled at a robust 54.9% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle with a gift box. The high bottling strength preserves the concentrated structure and pronounced cask character of this seven-year-old single malt. Tasting Note

Colour: Dark gold to amber with coppery highlights.

Nose: Intense and complex, with dark dried fruits, raisins and figs, accompanied by caramel, spicy oak and subtle maritime notes.

Palate: Powerful and full-bodied with sweet dried fruit, dark caramel and PX sherry, complemented by spices, oak and the characteristic bold Campbeltown style.

Finish: Long-lasting and warming, with dark fruit sweetness, spicy oak, dried fruit and lingering sherry notes.

The Glen Scotia 7 Years Old Cask by delicando is best enjoyed neat at around 18 to 20 °C, although a few drops of still water at 54.9% can help to bring out additional fruit and cask notes. Dark chocolate with a high cocoa content, roasted walnuts, mature hard cheese or dried fruit pair particularly well with the intense PX cask character. Desserts featuring figs, raisins, dates or dark caramel also make excellent accompaniments.
