Eden Mill is the first producer in Scotland to combine a craft brewery and a distillery. Craft beer has been produced in St Andrews again since 2012, and gin and whisky since 2014, following a hiatus since the Haig family last produced whisky in the region in 1860. Almost 150 years earlier, the Seggie Distillery – as it was then known – had produced grain whisky there.

The symbiosis between the brewery and the distillery produces aromatic, characterful beers which, when unhopped, form the basis for their whiskies. A considerable range of flavours is imparted to the whisky through the use of pale, chocolate and crystal malts, resulting in unique products. At Eden Mill, there is still a great deal of experimentation and scrutiny taking place, with a view to continuously developing the product range and quality. Everything is produced by hand and grown in the region’s fields.

Nose: Fruity, spicy, barley sugar.

Palate: Salted caramel, oaky spice.

Finish: Long-lasting.
