Macallan whiskies in particular enjoy great popularity, so the distillery had to find a way to meet demand. As the name suggests, the Macallan Rare Cask is a true rarity, particularly popular amongst collectors.

The production of the Macallan Rare Cask 2024 involved a collaboration with the renowned musician Charlie Burchill of Simple Minds. During a joint journey, they explored the subtleties of the sensory world, identifying parallels between sound, aroma, taste and colour. The musician’s artistry in creating unique whiskies, as well as composing outstanding music, led to this Cask Release bottling. This Macallan matures in the finest and rarest sherry oak casks, in which Macallan Estate had previously matured.

Tasting Note

Colour: Ruby-red mahogany.

Nose: Sweet notes of fresh apples, lemons and oranges, hints of vanilla and raisins.

Palate: Intense, complex, sweet raisins, hints of vanilla, dark chocolate, citrus peel.

Finish: Long-lasting, velvety.
