Description
Sandeman 10-Year-Old Tawny Port, 20% vol., 0.75 l, in a gift box online kaufen
In 1790, 25-year-old George Sandeman, the son of a wealthy Scottish carpenter, asked his father for a loan of 300 pounds. His aim was to set up as a wine merchant in London. George Sandeman subsequently founded the company Sandeman, which later became one of the world’s leading suppliers of port and sherry.
From the very beginning, Sandeman specialised in the production and trade of port and sherry. Unlike today, he did not run his business from his own offices, but from Tom’s Coffee House on Birchin Lane in London. At that time, business deals were often concluded on the basis of a ‘gentleman’s word’. George Sandeman quickly gained an excellent reputation, which continues to characterise the Sandeman company to this day.
Sandeman 10 Years Old Tawny Port is an elegant, deep red port, produced from a carefully selected blend of grape varieties such as Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional. The hand-picked grapes are destemmed and gently crushed before fermentation to ensure optimal extraction of the fruit’s components. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures, followed by the controlled addition of wine alcohol.
This port is traditionally aged in the centuries-old oak casks at the Sandeman cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. The wines selected for the Sandeman 10 Years Old Tawny, which have been aged for between 9 and 12 years, are regularly tasted and analysed to guarantee the highest quality. The result is a perfectly balanced Tawny that impresses with its velvety texture and aromas.
A true delight for lovers of fine port wines.
