Hillinger Blaufränkisch Leithaberg DAC 2020 13% ABV 0.75 l online kaufen
Leo Hillinger is a visionary entrepreneur and winegrower whose passion for viticulture has earned him international recognition. His estate, which today comprises an impressive 100 hectares of vineyards, is renowned not only in Austria but worldwide for its excellent wines. These wines are exported to over 20 countries around the world, underlining the global presence and popularity of the Hillinger brand. Hillinger’s focus on sustainable viticultural practices and organic production plays a key role in ensuring that his wines impress with their exceptional quality and purity.
Following years of training in Europe and California, Hillinger purchased 12 hectares of vineyards, thereby laying the foundations for his successful winery in Jois, which opened in 2004. The business has expanded to include several wine shops and bars across Austria and a long-standing business relationship with the Constantia Glen winery in South Africa. In 2012, Hillinger was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ by Ernst & Young, highlighting his outstanding role in the wine industry.
Hillinger Blaufränkisch Leithaberg is made from 100 per cent carefully selected Blaufränkisch grapes, which are organically grown. This wine is vinified as a dry wine and is produced from a selective hand-harvest. Following the harvest, fermentation takes place in open fermentation vats over a period of around four weeks. The wine is then aged for approximately 22 months in barriques and in large 3,000-litre wooden casks, which gives it its exceptional structure and complexity.
This red wine has an impressive ageing potential of around 10 years and is sealed with a natural cork. To experience the full range of flavours this wine has to offer, it is recommended that it be decanted an hour before drinking.
Tasting Note
A deep ruby red with a violet rim in the glass. On the nose, fruity aromas of blackberries, black cherries and ripe strawberries unfold, complemented by spicy notes and Mediterranean herbs, dark pepper and cloves. On the palate, the wine delights with spicy hints, intense berry flavours and subtle toasted notes, supported by rich tannins. The finish is long-lasting and refreshing.
