The Moneybag Barbera d’Alba DOC 2022 is a full-bodied red wine from Piedmont that combines the striking presence of rock legend Gene Simmons with Italian winemaking tradition. Produced in close collaboration with winegrowers from the Alba region, this Barbera brings together terroir, distinctive style and personality in a striking bottle. The Barbera grape is one of Piedmont’s most traditional grape varieties and is renowned for its dark colour, vibrant fruit and balanced acidity. The 2022 vintage impresses with its rich ripeness, dense fruit and fine tannins. Ageing takes place in both stainless steel tanks and oak, which preserves the fruit aromas whilst enhancing the wine’s structure and depth. With an alcohol content of 14.5% vol., this Barbera is concentrated and assertive, yet clearly balanced.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the wine displays a deep ruby red colour with purple highlights. The nose is dominated by ripe dark berries, plum, black cherry and a hint of spicy oak, complemented by subtle notes of tobacco and dark chocolate. On the palate, it is powerful and complex, with a rounded tannin structure, juicy fruit and harmonious acidity that lends freshness and length. The finish is long, spicy and characterised by a pleasant warmth.

The Moneybag Barbera d’Alba is an ideal accompaniment to braised beef, lamb chops, pasta with game ragout, mature cheeses or grilled vegetables. It also comes into its own with hearty pizza variations or Mediterranean meat dishes. Recommended serving temperature: 16–18 °C.
