The Moneybag Barbera d'Alba DOC 2022 is a powerful red wine from Piedmont that combines the striking appearance of rock legend Gene Simmons with Italian wine tradition. Produced in close co-operation with winegrowers from the Alba region, this Barbera combines origin, signature and personality in an impressive bottle. The Barbera grape is one of the most traditional grape varieties in Piedmont and is known for its dark colour, lively fruit and balanced acidity. The 2022 vintage impresses with its rich ripeness, dense fruit and fine tannins. It is matured both in stainless steel tanks and in wood, which preserves the fruit flavours while promoting structure and depth. With an alcohol content of 14.5% vol., this Barbera is concentrated and confident, but with a clear balance.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the wine presents itself in a deep ruby red colour with purple reflections. The nose is dominated by ripe dark berries, plum, black cherry and a hint of spicy wood, complemented by subtle notes of tobacco and dark chocolate. Powerful and multi-layered on the palate, with a round tannin structure, juicy fruit fullness and harmonious acidity that lends freshness and length. The finish is long, spicy and pleasantly warm.

The Moneybag Barbera d'Alba is an ideal accompaniment to braised beef, lamb chops, pasta with game ragout, mature cheese or grilled vegetables. It also comes into its own with savoury pizza variations or Mediterranean meat dishes. Recommended serving temperature: 16-18 °C.
