Laphroaig Quarter Cask is a powerful and expressive Islay single malt whisky that develops an incomparable aroma through a special maturation process. It is initially matured in classic ex-bourbon casks before undergoing a second maturation in smaller quarter casks – a method dating back to the 19th century. These smaller casks, which were once used for transport on pack mules, provide the whisky with 60 per cent more surface area in contact with the wood than conventional standard casks, allowing for a more intense development of flavour.

This Laphroaig is matured without any sherry influence, which lends its smoky, peaty character additional depth and an impressive harmony with the powerful oak notes. With an alcohol content of 48% ABV, it unfolds its aromas intensely whilst remaining wonderfully balanced. The elegant gift box (GB) makes it an excellent choice for lovers of peaty Islay whiskies and collectors.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep gold with amber highlights.

Nose: Intense peaty smoke with vanilla, coconut, caramel and a subtle medicinal note.

Palate: Full-bodied, robust and complex with sweet malt, honey, toasted oak and spicy citrus notes. The long oak maturation gives it a harmonious balance between smoky power and oaky spice.

Finish: Long-lasting, intense and dry, with a combination of vanilla, toasted oak and lingering smoke.

Laphroaig Quarter Cask reveals its aromas best when enjoyed neat or with a splash of water to further emphasise its complexity. Culinary pairings include grilled meat, smoked fish or strong cheeses such as Roquefort or mature Cheddar. Dark chocolate or salted nuts also perfectly highlight its sweet, smoky depth.
