The winemakers at CARM have been working in their vineyards in the Douro Superior, near Almendra, since the late nineteenth century. Their oldest vineyard was planted in 1966, and since then they have continued to expand and refine their selection of traditional grape varieties. With the construction of the winery in 2004, which combines the latest technology with traditional presses, they are able to ferment the finest grapes and produce outstanding wines. These wines, which are carefully aged and bottled, reflect the company’s passion for the land and its respect for nature.

The Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz grapes were first fully destemmed and gently crushed. This was followed by maceration, which lasted between 12 and 24 hours depending on the grape variety. The grape must was then transferred to large, shallow fermentation vats, where it continued to macerate at a controlled temperature of 22 °C for a period of 8 days to develop its full aromatic potential.

Tasting Note

A clear ruby red in the glass. Very fresh and elegant on the nose, with notes of wild berries and black cherries. Warm on the palate, supported by firm tannins with a soft texture. A long-lasting finish.
