In the glass, the Gran Faustino I Gran Reserva 2005 displays a deep ruby red colour with distinctly mature garnet-red highlights. On the nose, a complex bouquet unfolds, featuring ripe dark fruits, dried plums and subtle spices, accompanied by cedar wood, tobacco and delicate balsamic notes. On the palate, this mature Rioja is multi-layered and well-balanced, with supple tannins, harmoniously integrated acidity and an elegant structure. The finish is complex, spicy and long-lasting.

The Faustino I Gran Reserva 2005 pairs particularly well with braised beef, lamb, game and mature hard cheeses. This matured Rioja Gran Reserva also makes an excellent accompaniment to roast beef, herb-crusted rack of lamb or hearty mushroom dishes. A serving temperature of around 16–18 °C is recommended; due to the wine’s advanced age in the bottle, it should be handled with care and any sediment should be taken into account when pouring.
