The Kilchoman SANAIG CASK STRENGTH Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2024 is a robust special release from the independent Kilchoman Distillery, named after the remote Sanaigmore Bay on Islay. The original Sanaig blend was based on bourbon casks with a smaller proportion of sherry. For this cask-strength edition, the cask composition has been specifically refined: The majority of the maturation now takes place in sherry casks, primarily Oloroso, complemented by ex-bourbon and other sherry casks. This brings the sherry-driven depth more to the fore, without losing the distillery’s signature maritime, peaty style.


This first-ever cask-strength release for the German market is bottled at 57.8% ABV, unchill-filtered and without colouring. All the aroma-giving oils and esters are preserved. The result is a rich Islay single malt that precisely balances smoke, fruit and spice, and is clearly aimed at experienced Islay enthusiasts. The presentation in a gift box emphasises the limited-edition nature of this release.

Colour: Intense gold to copper, naturally derived from cask maturation.

Nose: Toffee sweetness, dark fruits, red berries, smoked oak, peaty smoke.

Palate: Intense sweetness, spicy dark chocolate, raisins, liquorice, warming peat smoke.

Finish: Lingering sweetness and spices, with smoke integrated throughout.

It pairs beautifully with dark chocolate with a high cocoa content, desserts featuring dried fruit, or strong hard cheese.
