The Kavalan LÁN Single Malt Whisky 43% ABV 0.7 l + GB is a special bottling from the Kavalan Distillery, created as a tribute to its home region of Yilan. The name LÁN means ‘orchid’ in Chinese and refers to Taiwan’s reputation as the ‘Kingdom of Orchids’. This expression combines different types of cask: the fresh vanilla notes from bourbon casks, nutty and fruity accents from port casks, and the caramel-like, fruity sweetness from STR wine casks. This combination results in a clearly structured whisky that reflects the lightness, elegance and aromatic diversity of the region. Each bottle is presented in a high-quality gift box, emphasising the distinctive character of this edition within the Kavalan range.


At 43 per cent ABV, this Taiwanese single malt whisky is a finely balanced composition whose aromatic identity encompasses floral, fruity and woody Elements. The cask selection lends LÁN a multi-layered yet distinct profile that unfolds with a long-lasting finish in the glass. Tasting Note

Colour: Dark amber with warm highlights.

Nose: Enchanting orchid aromas, combined with rose, jasmine, peony and orange blossom, alongside creamy vanilla, chocolate, caramel, cantaloupe melon, fruit jellies and nutty and cinnamon notes.

Palate: Fresh, floral and fruity, combined with creamy and chocolatey notes that give way to a long-lasting nutty and cinnamon-tinged woody finish.

Finish: Long-lasting, elegant and warm with delicate floral and nutty Elements.

The Kavalan LÁN is ideal for enjoying neat, as its floral and fruity character comes into its own particularly well at a moderate strength. It pairs harmoniously with light desserts such as lemon tart, vanilla custard, almond desserts or white chocolate, elegantly complementing its creamy and fruity components. It also pairs well with mild cheeses, air-dried ham or Asian dishes with floral notes, such as dishes featuring jasmine rice, lemongrass or a light honey glaze. For cocktails, it can be used in floral or fruit-forward variations of the whisky sour or highball, which emphasise its lightness. As a digestif, it offers a warm, balanced and long-lasting aromatic finish.
