Velho Barreiro Cachaça Special Edition Silver is a traditional Brazilian sugarcane spirit with an alcohol content of 39 per cent, sold in a 0.7-litre bottle. Unlike many rums, cachaça is not made from molasses but from fermented fresh sugarcane juice. Velho Barreiro originates from Brazil and is produced by a distiller whose history began in 1950 in Piracicaba, in the state of São Paulo. Despite its high production volume, the brand places great importance on maintaining a distinctive, clearly recognisable style that reflects the authentic character of Brazilian cachaça.

Velho Barreiro Silver is aged in barrels made from Jequitibá Rosa wood, which rounds out the spirit without masking its fresh sugarcane aromas. The result is a slightly sweet and fruity cachaça with notes of sugar cane and banana, which is particularly notable for its versatility in mixology. This makes this cachaça equally suitable for caipirinhas, classic batidas and other Brazilian cocktails. Caramel colouring E150d is used to ensure a consistent colour.

Nose: Fresh sugar cane, ripe banana and subtle woody notes.

Palate: Slightly sweet and smooth, with notes of sugar cane, banana, gentle spice and subtle plant-based nuances.

Finish: Medium-length, aromatic and well-balanced with fruity sugar cane notes.

Velho Barreiro Cachaça Special Edition Silver is an ideal base for a classic caipirinha with fresh limes, cane sugar and crushed ice. It is also suitable for a Batida de Coco, Batida de Maracujá, the Latin Lover or fruity long drinks with pineapple and passion fruit juice. Culinary pairings: this cachaça goes well with grilled prawns, fish tacos, churrasco, spicy grilled chicken, ceviche or lime and coconut desserts.
