The Zenato Ripassa Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC 2020 14% is a characterful Italian red wine from Veneto, produced using the traditional Ripasso method. The blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Oseleta grapes comes from vineyards with dry, loamy and calcareous soils in the Valpolicella region. Following the initial alcoholic fermentation, the young wine undergoes a second fermentation on the still-warm Amarone pomace for around 20 days. This process, known as Ripasso, gives the wine additional concentration, structure and aromatic depth. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild, damp winters, creates favourable conditions for the ripening of the grapes.


The Zenato Ripassa Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore 2020 is then aged for 24 months in French barriques, followed by a further six months of refinement in the bottle. This meticulous ageing process defines the full-bodied yet balanced style of this dry Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC. On the nose, intense aromas of black cherries and plums unfold, accompanied by spicy nuances and hints of preserved fruit. On the palate, it is juicy and supple, with concentrated fruit and subtle notes of coffee, liquorice and almonds. The finish is long-lasting, elegant and complex.
