Casa Paladin, a renowned winery in Italy’s Veneto region, is situated in the Valpolicella DOCG-certified area. The winery was founded in the 1960s by Carlo Paladin. The winery’s philosophy is to produce wines that reflect the region’s distinctive terroir by blending traditional methods with modern technologies. The production of Paladin’s Merlot follows a classic process. After fermentation, the wine matures for several months in stainless steel tanks. It is then bottled, where it remains until it has developed its full flavour profile. Paladin Merlot Veneto is made from 100 per cent Merlot grapes. Ageing in stainless steel tanks serves to preserve the purity and integrity of the grape’s character before the wine is sealed with a natural cork.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Paladin Merlot Veneto displays an intense ruby red colour with violet highlights. On the nose, aromas of ripe cherries, dark wild berries and a hint of violets unfold. On the palate, it is soft, round and full-bodied, with harmoniously integrated tannins. Subtle hints of plum compote and a delicate touch of spice accompany the long, velvety finish.

The Paladin Merlot Veneto is an excellent accompaniment to pasta with rich sauces, grilled meat or Mediterranean vegetable dishes. It is also a suitable choice with mature cheeses or an autumnal mushroom stir-fry. For lovers of Italian cuisine, this Merlot is the perfect accompaniment to a classic risotto or lasagne al forno.
