El Compás Rum Company’s THE ORIGINAL is a premium spirit crafted from carefully selected molasses rums from the Dominican Republic. The rums used are aged for at least five years under tropical conditions in ex-bourbon casks made from American white oak. This long ageing process lends the blend a subtle woody note and a balanced, smooth aroma that is equally impressive when enjoyed neat or in cocktails. The combination of pot-still and column-still distillation results in a complex flavour profile with a smooth body and harmonious sweetness.

The El Compás brand – Spanish for ‘the beat’ – embodies the rhythm of Caribbean life and stylishly captures it in every bottle. This 5-year-aged spirit is a true all-rounder, whether enjoyed neat or as a base for premium rum cocktails. A real highlight is the extraordinary label design: the compass rose on the bottle is an embroidered badge made from fluorescent thread that glows in the dark – a feature unique worldwide that combines design, symbolism and functionality.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden amber with a slight sheen.

Nose: Soft and inviting, with notes of vanilla, caramel, light fruits, ripe bananas and oak.

Palate: Round and harmonious with a blend of sweetness, tropical fruit, green walnuts, subtle toasted notes and mild spice.

Finish: Medium-length, pleasantly smooth and slightly sweet with a subtle woody note.
