The 2023 vintage is a blend of 70 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon and 30 per cent Sangiovese – a combination that unites the structure and spice of Cabernet with the freshness and elegance of Sangiovese. The grapes come from the estate’s own vineyards, situated in the rolling hills of the Maremma near Bolgheri, where the interplay of sun, the influence of the sea and limestone-rich soils creates ideal conditions for expressive red wines. The wine is aged for several months in second- and third-use French barriques to preserve the fruit whilst still imparting subtle depth and structure to the wine.

In the glass, Le Difese displays an intense ruby red colour with purple highlights. On the nose, it reveals aromas of dark cherries, redcurrants and cassis, accompanied by delicate notes of tobacco, Mediterranean herbs and subtle vanilla. On the palate, it is well-balanced, juicy and elegant, with fresh acidity, ripe tannins and a harmonious balance between fruit, spice and subtle oak. The finish is smooth, medium-bodied and pleasantly long.
