The Lochlea 6 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2018/2024 marks a significant milestone in the development of the still-young but already highly regarded Lochlea Distillery in the Scottish Lowlands. For this limited edition, three Oloroso sherry casks and three ex-bourbon casks have been combined, creating a complex and harmonious flavour profile. The Oloroso casks impart deep, dark-fruity notes and a rich spiciness, whilst the ex-Bourbon casks add light, sweet accents and refine the structure. The whisky has not been chill-filtered or coloured, and is bottled at a robust 50% ABV – ideal for anyone seeking unadulterated quality and expressive character.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden yellow with a natural sheen.

Nose: Expressive and complex, with aromas of juicy, ripe berries, sticky dates, candied ginger, green apple, vanilla and cinnamon. There are also hints of toasted oak and a delicate fruitiness from the bourbon cask.

Palate: Full-bodied and harmonious, with notes of candied orange, ripe grain, clove, vanilla, caramel and a hint of peppery spice. The sweetness of the bourbon casks brings brightness and blends elegantly with the dark fruitiness of the Oloroso influence.

Finish: Rich, long and smooth, with silky tannins, warming oak spices, malty depth and a harmonious, fruity-spicy aftertaste.

The Lochlea 6 Years Old Single Malt is an ideal choice for pure enjoyment – served at room temperature or with a few drops of water to allow its full aromatic range to unfold. Culinary pairings include smoked poultry, game terrine, dark fruit bread or candied nuts.
