The La Scolca Gavi Bianco Secco DOCG 2023, also known as Etichetta Bianca, is a classic, dry white wine from Piedmont that deliberately focuses on a single grape variety: 100 per cent Cortese. This single-varietal wine comes from the historic La Scolca winery, which has been family-owned since 1919 and is based in the renowned municipality of Gavi. For this elegant white wine, only the very best grapes were hand-harvested and then taken directly to the press house. There, the grapes are carefully sorted and gently crushed.

Fermentation then takes place in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature, ensuring that freshness, fruitiness and clarity are optimally preserved. After bottling, the wine is sealed with a natural cork, which perfectly protects the aromas. The Gavi Bianco Secco has an ageing potential of around 3 years, during which it can develop additional depth and elegance. The DOCG designation of origin guarantees the highest standards of provenance and quality.

Tasting Note

The Etichetta Bianca Gavi glides into the glass with a brilliant platinum-yellow colour. On the nose, it unfolds a complex bouquet reminiscent of red and black berries and dark fruits such as heart cherries and plums – an unusual yet fascinating character for a white wine. On the palate, it is pleasantly dry, smooth and well-balanced, without ever seeming austere or overbearing. The moderate fruit acidity ensures a velvety mouthfeel whilst lending the wine a juicy vibrancy. The finish is long-lasting and precise, with a lovely aftertaste that rounds off the elegant overall impression.
