The Winzerhof Kiss RED KISS 2023 is a charming, fruit-driven red wine blend that impresses with its elegance, drinkability and Burgenland character. It comes from the family-run Winzerhof Kiss, situated in Jois on the north-eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl, in the heart of northern Burgenland. The estate is renowned for its terroir-driven wines, vinified with great finesse and a commitment to sustainability. The Neuberg, Mittersatz and Übermassl vineyards form the foundation of this red wine – sites characterised by ideal sun exposure and soils rich in character.

The grape varieties Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt and Cabernet Sauvignon come together here to create an approachable yet multi-layered cuvée. The vines grow on chernozem soils composed of loamy clay, as well as on brown earth with a sandy loam content, which lends the cuvée depth, fruitiness and a harmonious structure. Following hand-harvesting, the wine undergoes classic maceration in stainless-steel tanks at 30 °C, followed by malolactic fermentation in wooden barrels. Further ageing for 6 months in used wooden barrels imparts a delicate maturity to the wine without overpowering oak notes. The wine is bottled with a screw cap, which emphasises its freshness. It will be ready to drink until at least 2027 if stored under optimal conditions.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the RED KISS displays a deep ruby red colour with a black core – a first indication of the depth of this otherwise uncomplicated red wine. On the nose, it reveals an invigorating fruitiness with aromas of dark berries and a hint of cassis. On the palate, the cuvée impresses with its smooth tannins, approachable structure and a fruity, rounded finish. The subtle spice and harmoniously integrated fruit sweetness make this wine a versatile choice for many occasions.

Serving temperature: 17–18 °C

The Winzerhof Kiss RED KISS is a true all-rounder – ideal with barbecued dishes, pasta with rich tomato sauces, pizza, braised vegetables or a platter of cold cuts with bacon and cheese. Served slightly chilled in summer, it is also a wonderful accompaniment to antipasti, tarte flambée or an evening on the terrace. Thanks to its fruitiness, moderate alcohol content and soft tannins, this red wine is just as suitable as a social wine as it is as a charming everyday accompaniment to meals.
