The Meteoriten Likör is a unique gin-based blackcurrant liqueur that both surprises and delights with its origin, depth of flavour and balance. Produced in the heart of the Nördlinger Ries, Germany’s largest meteorite crater, this liqueur combines the intense, fruity notes of ripe blackcurrants with the characterful Meteoriten Gin, distilled from wild juniper from this unique region.

Asteroid was created by Dr Karl Scheible with the aim of reinterpreting the depth and aroma of a classic blackcurrant liqueur – combined with the wildness and resinous spiciness of the region’s characteristic juniper. The result is a full-bodied, nature-inspired liqueur that bears its origins not only in its name but also in its flavour. The composition unfolds an intense fruity sweetness, supported by an invigorating acidity that lends the liqueur freshness and character. The Meteoriten Gin, on which Asteroid is based, provides depth, subtle spice and the characteristic, slightly resinous forest note that lends the product an elegant, sophisticated nuance.

The result is a multi-layered moment of indulgence – like a late summer’s day in Grandma’s berry garden, with a balanced interplay between sweetness and acidity, fruitiness and a tart depth.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep, dark purple.

Nose: Intensely fruity with ripe blackcurrant, slightly floral notes and a hint of juniper resin.

Palate: Sweet and fruity, full-bodied with blackcurrant flavours, fresh acidity, resinous, woody notes and a subtle hint of herbs.

Finish: Long-lasting and well-balanced with a rich berry flavour, a slight tartness and gentle warmth.

The Asteroid Blackcurrant Liqueur is excellent served chilled on its own, over ice, as a spritzer with sparkling wine, or as an aromatic ingredient in cocktails and desserts. It also makes an excellent addition as a fruity accent to game dishes, strong cheeses or dark chocolate.
