Torabhaig Sound of Sleat is part of the highly acclaimed Legacy Series from the relatively new Torabhaig Distillery, situated on the south coast of the Scottish Isle of Skye. Bottled at 46% ABV in a high-quality 0.7-litre bottle with a gift box, this peated single malt whisky is an expression of the island’s rugged natural beauty and the tradition-conscious distilling craft of the new generation of Scottish distilleries.

The whisky is matured entirely in first-fill bourbon casks, which gives it a wonderfully balanced combination of smoky character, vanilla sweetness and fresh spice. The peated barley malt used produces a powerful yet elegant peaty character that harmonises beautifully with the maritime notes of the Isle of Skye and the clear structure of the distillate. Despite its youth, the Sound of Sleat impresses with its depth, structure and aromatic maturity.

Torabhaig is the second legal distillery on Skye after Talisker – and this bottling impressively demonstrates the potential of this new era of whisky.

Tasting Note

Colour: Pale gold.

Nose: Smoky and fresh with notes of peat, citrus, barley malt, vanilla and salty sea air.

Palate: Full-bodied and well-structured with peaty smoke, spicy wood, the sweetness of honey and vanilla, accompanied by subtle maritime hints.

Finish: Long-lasting, dry and smoky with a salty depth and a subtle herbal note.

The Torabhaig Sound of Sleat is best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to bring out its smoky, maritime character and the bourbon cask flavours to the full. It also pairs excellently with smoked meats, grilled lamb, mature cheeses or dark chocolate.
