Collection: Torabhaig

The first two Legacy bottlings received much praise for their elegant balance of smokiness and the “typical Skye sea breeze” in their flavour – a successful addition to the Hebrides distilleries.

The distillery combines historic stone architecture with a contemporary design. Visitors can enjoy the atmosphere of the restored farm and the view of the ruins of Caisteal Camus – authentic, inspiring, quintessentially Skye.

Distillation takes place in two copper pot stills (spirit and wash), which have been specially integrated into the historic building. The long fermentation in Douglas fir washbacks brings out fruity notes, whilst the controlled peating level (~55–77 ppm) provides the characteristic smoky flavour.

Torabhaig supports local talent: nine members of staff, including local career changers and apprentices, carry out the distillation on site. In addition, the Torabhaig ‘Peat Elite’ Club offers a wide range of activities for fans and supporters.

Located in Teangue on the Sleat Peninsula, Torabhaig draws on the clear waters of the Allt Gleann Thorabhaig and Allt Breacach streams. The smoky malt is carefully measured out to achieve depth without being overpowering.

• Legacy Series Ch. 1 – 2017: First bottling with around 16 ppm smoke, a fruity base note, limited edition.
• Legacy Series Ch. 2 – Allt Gleann: Higher phenolic content, salty maritime notes and a deeper peaty character.
• Legacy Series Ch. 3 & 4: Continued with ‘Cnoc Na Mòine’ and ‘Sound of Sleat’, further limited editions with increasing maturity.
• Journeyman’s Series: Experimental cask editions by distillery apprentices – highly creative, great variety.
